One of our authors forwarded the following to someone here at work:

A commuter, while on his way home from work in Washington, D.C. traffic, came to a dead halt and thought to himself: "This is unusual." He noticed a police officer walking between the lines of stopped cars, so he rolled down his window and asked, "Officer, what's the hold-up?"

The officer replied, "The President is depressed, so he stopped his motorcade and is threatening to douse himself with gasoline and set himself on fire. He says no on believes his stories about why we went to war in Iraq, or thte connection between Saddam and al-Qaeda, or that his tax cuts will help anyone except his wealthy friends. So we're taking up a collection for him."

The commuter asks, "How much have you got so far?"

The officer replies, "About 200 gallons, but a lot of people are still siphoning."

Heh. . .

Except: A commuter, while on his way home from work in Washington, D.C. traffic, came to a dead halt and thought to himself: "This is unusual."

Obviously not written by a DC commuter. ;-)

I wondered about that myself. Then decided that sometimes logic has to be sacrificed in service to a joke. :)

As Kelso would say, "Ooh, buuuuuurn!"

(Normally I don't approve of jokes about doing harm to public officials, but one must be flexible about these things...)

It's kinda on the edge for me too. I decided since the harming in the joke was initiated by the individual himself (others were just trying to be helpful to his quest) that that made it more okay.
